At Comatec, sustainable materials are at the heart of everything we do. Today, let’s take a closer look at bagasse—a 100% natural and renewable material derived from sugarcane fiber.
Bagasse is what’s left after extracting juice from sugarcane. One ton of sugarcane yields around 300 kg of this valuable by-product. The good news? Sugarcane naturally regrows in 10 to 16 months, depending on the growing conditions, and has a life cycle of up to 10 years.
While it requires significant water, its high yield makes bagasse a great eco-responsible alternative for those who want to combine functionality and environmental care.
We offer a wide range of bagasse-based products—bowls, plates, trays, cups, containers—through our collections: Santo, Kova, Ola, Faro, Fibra, Komodo, Quadra, Kea, Meal Box, Cookplay, and Kalo.
